Museum Expandment North West recognises that it is important for museum professionals to connect with colleagues through conferences and networking events, but also how stretched budgets can be when it comes to professional development. If you would like a free place then you need to tell us that you will:
- Commit to attending the whole event
- Feedback to colleagues and the region via our blog
- Send us any relevant information and feedback to put on the MDNW website
- Cover the cost of travel and accommodation
How to apply
This opportunity is only open to people working in small Accredited museums, or those officially working towards Accreditation in the North West. Those working in NPOs or National Museums are not eligible to apply.

Please note that the bursaries only covers the conference fee and not travel and accommodation.

Front of House Cohort 2023
Museum Expandment North West is thrilled to be joining this practical and interactive programme is now in its seventh year and run by Museum Expandment Yorkshire. The programme, which museums from the North West can now participate in, features networking, peer support, mentoring and high-quality training. Non-National Portfolio Organisations, who are new to the cohort, can also access additional mentoring.
Essential Commitment by ALL Participant Museums
We ask that a lead individual from each institution commits to attending every session – if a museum misses a session, they may end up forfeiting their place on the cohort. This is to ensure consistency, to lead on the action planning and to be the contact for the mentoring – if applicable.
