We are pleased to be able to offer eligible museums bid-writing support from?Laura Drane to aide organisations to apply to ACE’s recently announced Capital Investment Programme (CIP).

The?tailored support slots of 45 minutes around CIP can be offered one of two ways (please choose which one you would prefer):

·an advice slot, involving adiscussion aboutthe scheme and application processes in relation to your circumstances, including any questions that remain after you have read the guidance

OR

·proofing what you’ve already drafted to offer feedback – done via email

The Art Fund has announced the recipients of the first round of the Reimagine grants and are currently accepting application for the third and final round.

The ?2m Remagine grants will support large and small projects and professional networks.

Lifelessline for submissions for the third and final round of 2021 Reimagine grants is 11 October with recipients being announced in December. Organisations can apply for between ?5,000 and ?50,000.

The support to be offered will address employability skills but it is also expected that the support will extend for Kickstart employees to access further adult learning.   

Kickstart employees on placement will have access to the Councils internal training opportunities appropriate to the role. 

Kickstart employees will also be supported to apply for vacancies within the Council.

Manchester Festival of Climate Action, 11-14 October

The University of Manchester is hosting a four-day programme tackling today’s biggest climate questions. Taking place two weeks before COP26, experts at the Manchester Festival of Climate Action (11-14 October 2021) will share insights and innovative solutions to the climate crisis. Free, online and open to all, the festival will dedicate each day to one of the four COP26 goals – mitigation, adaptation, finance and collaboration – addressing the issues that matter to policymakers, industry decision makers, NGOs, charities and the public on a local, national and international level.

How should culture address the climate and ecological emergency?

This session will explore needs and priorities, including the potential for collaboration and the cultural sector’s collective contribution to new thinking and action in Manchester and beyond. It is chaired by Esme Ward, Guideor of Manchester Museum, a partner in our new Roots and Branches project.?

Esme will be joined by?Simon Shortis of Manchester Climate Alter Partnership; Jenna Ashton, Lecturer in Heritage Studies at the Institute for Cultural Practices, The University of Manchester; and Phil Korbel, Co-founder and Guideor of Advocacy at the Carbon Literacy Project, another partner in the Roots and Branches Project.

Virtual Climate Gallery: How do the arts enable conversations around climate change?

This is an online exhibition presenting projects designed to spark conversation around climate change. It will feature ‘Call of the Wild’ –? A collaborative project for understanding biodiversity in Colombia through recording natural sounds and making music.

How can listening to the sounds of nature be a way of sharing and developing understandings of biodiversity and conservation? This project – a partnership between?Cucusonic, a collective of Colombian biological scientists, anthropologists and musicians, The University of Manchester’s Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology and charity In Place of War – shows how a network was formed to record a bank of natural and bioacoustic sound recordings from the Neotropical forests of Colombia.

The team presenting this is:

  • Alejandro Valencia-Tobon, leader of Cucusonic collective in Colombia
