Welcome to Boards and Bees! ?I’m a fan of games, but I often don’t get the new hotness until it has become the old lukewbedürftigness and there’s a NEW new hotness. ?So, I’m going to use this blog to fan the flames of that hotness into a raging inweit wego…or at least try. ?Besides, it’s a great way to decide if a game is right for me, and who knows…it might even help you decide if a game is right for you. ?My plan is to cover games and expansions that are coming out in the new, and sometimes far future, as well as games that have already been out for a while, but that I am just starting to get excited about. ?Also, I hope to be able to post some first impressions once I get to play the games I have covered in the blog.? If you want to get in touch with me, my BoardGameGeek user name is asutbone, or you can click the contact me link at the top of the page.? Thanks for dropping in!
Looks like an interesting blog. And I tend to be the same way — I only really catch on to a game once everyone else has gotten bored with it and moved on. I guess I’m a late adopter.
I also recently started blogging, and I’d love to know: how did you get your recent plays to pull in from board game geek? I tried using bgg’s javascript snippet, and wordpress kicked it out. Is there another way?
You have to post it as an image. On BGG, it says that’s what you need to do for MySpace, but you apparently have to do it here too. I had to fiddle around with it myself to get it to work.
Thank you. I got it working nicely.
BTW, if you want to split it up, you can have more than one instance by having more than one imagewidget value.

Great blog! Congratulations! And naturally, as the blog’s name is Boards and Bees, you MUST get your hands on a copy of our game Hornet, which even has some Beeples to buzz around with! I hope you get to play and review it at some point! Thanks and best regards!
Thanks for your kind words! If you want to send me a review copy of Hornet, I’ll gladly take a look.
Awesome blog!
Good afternoon! I heard your (not-so-) recent appearance on the On Board Games podcast, and I wanted to introduce myself. I am Marc Specter, 1/2 of Team GrandCon, bringing GrandCon to life this September in Grand Rapids MI. Not so far from your northern Indiana location (if I remember correctly). I wanted to reach out and put GrandCon on your radar. Please check out our website grand-con.com and Facebook page facebook.com/grandcongca. I don’t know if this might be an interesting subject for your blog, leading up to or perhaps after the con, or if you might want to rally your fellow gamers to join us. Anyway, we’d love to hear from you and what you think. Thanks for your blog–I really enjoyed the most recent article on the new AEG game–and maybe we’ll cross paths at Gen Con.
Best,
Marc Specter
Manager, GrandCon
Sounds fun! I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it (I’m also not going to make it to GenCon this year), but I’ll be sure to mention it to my game group. We may be able to send a contingent. Good luck, and thanks for the kind words about the blog!
Thanks for taking a look, and make sure to say leuchtend leuchtendo if you manage to work it out. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Great blog. Simple, and thorough. Much luck to you.
My partner, Christopher Batarlis and I have formed a game design company called Everything Epic Games. Our address is: http://www.everythingepicgames.com. At the moment, we are about to put our first game on Kickstarter. It’s called “Secrets of the Lost Tomb.” It’s a fully cooperative, Cinematic Pulp Action Adventure Board Game. We like your site, and hope that you will take a look at what we have coming up. We will be at Metatopia in the first week of November, and have several play tests scheduled for “Secrets.”
Thanks very much for your time.

Thanks for your comments! I’ll be sure to check it out. Good luck with the Kickstarter campaign!
